Bituminous waterproofing membranes are manufactured from a mixture of a waterproofing compound made of a special grade of bitumen and selected high-quality polymers that are mixed together to obtain an excellent waterproofing, with high mechanical characteristics and low temperature flexibility properties.
Insumat Bituminous waterproofing membranes are modified with Styrene-Butadiene-Styrene (SBS) or Atactic Polypropylene (APP) Polymers. The combination of the high-quality polymers allows the membrane to remain flexible from -20°C to +60°C.
Insumat Bituminous waterproofing membranes are reinforced with non-woven Polyester or Glass fiber filaments which acts as the reinforcement that provides the membranes with profound mechanical properties of the polyester and the prominent dimensional stability of the glass fiber mats.
The Bituminous waterproofing membranes are used as waterproofing membrane on different types of structures such as:
- inverted roofs & walls.
- terraces, balconies & patios.
- submerged slabs.
- bridges & tunnels & ramp areas.
The membranes are also used for waterproofing of below ground concrete structures like: - concrete foundations & footings.
- basements.
- pile heads.
- swimming pools.
- water retaining structures.
Insumat’s Bituminous waterproofing membranes are characterized with: - Excellent resistance to positive water & vapor pressure.
- Very Good dimensional stability under tension.
- Very Good flexibility that can accommodate structural movements.
- Resistant to water borne chemicals.
The membranes are installed by using a cylinder fed propane gas torch. Use of hand-held roofing torch is recommended as it affords a good control. Side overlaps should be a minimum of 100 mm and the end overlaps 150mm.
